Getting Your Shower Curtains Exceedingly Clean

The accumulated soap combined with the damp conditions makes cleaning your shower curtain a real house cleaning mess. One would think that this is one item that should stay clean!

Soap scum and soap film on shower curtains is not a pretty picture. But there is an easy way to remove it. Place the shower curtain in the washer with a few large towels.

It is the bar of soap that results in the scaly residue on your shower,  The body and bar soap equals soap scum.  Throw in hard water, and you have a real mess.  Consider switching to using body wash instead of bar soap, as it will not these the residue on your shower.

Clean your plastic curtains and make them look like new by adding your curtains along with a few white or colorfast towels or blankets along with a cap-ful of your favorite detergent and 1 cup of bleach.  Wash on the warm or hot cycle.

To clean your fabric shower curtains, take them down by un-clipping the rings connecting it to the rod, and simply toss it into the washing machine with 1 cup of baking soda. Wash through 1 complete washing cycle in warm or hot water, or read the manufacturers' instructions for details specific to your brand and fabric material type.

Right after the final spin cycle, remove the curtains from the clothes washer and shake gently to remove any excess water.  Replace them by hanging them back up on the curtain rod to dry.  The effect of gravity, along with the hot steam for the shower or bath will remove any wrinkles which will disappear within a day or so.
